Club News

Since January, members have worked in support of or on behalf of the Kiwanis Music Festival of Greater Toronto, the North York Harvest Food Bank, the Canadian Lung Association, the Canadian National Institute for the Blind, Youth Assisting Youth and the Salvation Army.

Recent substantial donations include:

  • $5,000 to the Reena Foundation for Autism Social Skills and Parents Respite/Enrichment programs.
  • $10,000 to Easter Seals Society for the Albert Kokotow Memorial Endowment Fund for musical instruments at Woodeden Summer Camp.
  • $8,250 to the Kiwanis Music Festival for scholarships, awards and class sponsorship.
  • $5,000 to the Salvation Army for student after-school programmes in the Jane/Finch area.
  • $4,000 to North York General Hospital  Foundation for electronic infant scales needed by the Kiwanis Young Moms and Babies programme.
  • $2,500 to the Canadian Red Cross for Far East Earthquake Emergency Relief in Pakistan.

Members are now working at Kiwanis Music Festival sessions between February 13 and 23 at the following locations:

1. The Donway Covenant United Church, 230 The Donway West.
2. Trinity Presbyterian Church, 2737 Bayview Avenue.
3. St. Bonaventure Parish Centre, 1300 Leslie Street.
4. Christchurch Deerpark, 1570 Yonge Street.

We have decided to support Yorkwoods Public School , 25 Yorkwoods Gate, "Future Aces" programme, that helps students develop and improve their reading and literacy skills.
